Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from QAS

It is estimated that 85% of business information has a spatial component. A geographic information system (GIS) is a tool that allows this information to be entered, analysed, displayed and printed.

QAS has a range of tools which allow organisations to locate addresses accurately using grid reference data and manipulate that GIS data to provide better services for customers.

Grid reference data can be incorporated into many of the core products in the QAS range. We have also specifically designed certain products to utilise the grid reference data associated with postcodes and individual premises in the UK.

QAS Nearest is increasingly being integrated into company and Local Authority websites to improve service delivery. QAS Nearest calculates the shortest distance between two locations - helping customers to find the closest service to them. To see an example of how the product is used visit Give Blood.

QAS Locator can return either a single postcode for the grid reference that you specify, or all of the postcodes within a given area. This information is perfectly suited to be displayed in map form.
