QAS is committed to a programme of corporate social responsibility. QAS in the Community enables QAS to take a pro-active involvement in communities local to our London, Manchester and Edinburgh offices.
For example, in recent years QAS in the Community has supported the local hospice, a local day centre for the homeless and charitable activities undertaken by our staff for their own chosen charities.
At QAS we recognise the importance of protecting the environment. All efforts are made to ensure that we conduct our operations to minimise negative impacts on the environment, conserve natural resources and reduce unnecessary cost. Staff are encouraged to contribute to the maintenance of such an environment.
Recent Project Involvement
In recent years, QAS in the Community has chosen to focus investments on charities local to our regional offices. Some of the larger projects that we have been involved in are detailed below:
Trinity Hospice
Trinity Hospice, based in Clapham Common provides care for people with advanced illnesses - both at the hospice and at peoples' own homes through community nurses. It is a tranquil and restful place, which helps over 2,000 patients every year.
QAS in the Community has been involved in numerous projects with the hospice over the last few years. Most recently, we sponsored a community nurse, helping to provide care and support for patients in their own homes.
Local schools
We are proud to have recently supported local schools - one with a programme to promote healthy eating and another to improve its facilities to allow for a covered outdoor play area.
As a part of our commitment to local schools, a number of QAS employees are
involved in the Number Partners scheme at Wix Primary School. Volunteers spend
their lunch hour once a week helping children with their mathematics skills.
The scheme was recently featured in Metro newspaper. Metro reported that "since the programme's inception, two in five participating schools have reported an improvement in the competence of their pupils handling numbers".
QAS is proud to be involved with a scheme that helps with both practical mathematical ability and also communication skills. Helen Clift, a volunteer over the past two years, is referenced in the article reinforcing QAS' commitment to supporting the local community.
Staff activity
Our members of staff regularly undertake challenges of their own to raise money for charities of their choice. QAS in the Community regularly supports these efforts with donations to match the sponsorship raised.
