An eye on efficiency

CBR presents a special report on the single customer view, in association with Experian QAS

Organisations in both the public and private sector have long sought a single customer view. The operational efficiencies and improvements to customer service that flow from a joined-up view of customers or citizens have meant that investments in technologies, services and best practices that help organisations achieve this goal generate an excellent return on investment.

This special report looks at the issue of data quality and the search for a single customer view in both local and central government, but there are some stark lessons here for private sector organisations too.

The Rise of Free Data

The Cabinet Office's business plan, published last November, commits to working with the BIS department and HM Treasury to create a new public body by April 2011 - the Public Data Corporation will be the source of "core reference data for free release", putting into effect the government's promise to set public information free.

It looked like unalloyed good news for the public sector IT community - not least because it was quickly followed by news of a National Address Gazetteer created by merging Ordnance Survey's Address Layer product with the newly nationalised National Land and Property Gazetteer.

Latest Experian QAS research demonstrates bottom-line uplift from improvements to data quality

Data Quality strategies exist, but 23 percent of data is still inaccurate.

Experian QAS, a leading provider of address verification software and services, has announced the release of Contact Data Management: Bridging the Gap, a new report examining organisations' current data quality practices, motivations and database accuracy.

The study reveals that while 87 percent of U.S. organisations have a documented data quality strategy, 73 percent still rely on at least one manual task to manage the accuracy of their contact data. However, those organisations that have made improvements to data quality processes in the past two years have generated an average of $1.2 million in incremental profits.
