Join the data quality discussion

If you want to get involved in discussing data quality issues with your peers, you're only a few mouse clicks away.

User-generated content has been one of the key themes on the web over the past couple of years. From YouTube to Facebook, to forums where ordinary people can discuss use of products and services, there has been an explosion of tools that allow people to share their experiences online.

The outcome is that the internet has evolved from a platform where big brands can disseminate their message to the masses, to one where the masses can have their say. And the consumer viewpoint is not censored by concerns over whether comments are 'on-message' or not.

This applies as much to data quality as it does to any other issue facing businesses today. At Experian QAS, we have been encouraged to see the number of forums dedicated to discussing data quality issues. For us, it's a sure sign that data quality is rising up the corporate agenda and occupying the attention of company executives, and their bosses in the boardroom.

We do as much as we can to monitor what people are saying in these forums, and to contribute ourselves, as in the example here.

If you want to take part in the discussion, just run a Google blog search on 'Data Quality' to get started. And make sure your voice is heard!
