Public Data Corporation

Definition :

The Public Data Corporation covers the Government's new plans to effectively manage and distribute government-held data.

The Treasury and Department of Business, Innovation and Skills are working to make the Public Data Corporation ready for business by April 2011, according to the Cabinet Office's business plan 2011-15.

The government is currently talking to groups, organisations and individuals who use government data, to determine what the future demand will be, and, the issues and problems users face in getting the most out of this data.

The overall purpose of the Public Data Corporation, at this stage, is to make government data more easily available and to manage this data effectively to ensure it is valuable to those who use it.

What the Public Data Corporation will look like is yet to be defined.
