Definition :

The task of identifying and removing duplicate contact records is becoming increasingly important with the strive towards achieving a single customer view.

Having duplicate contact records amongst your database results in wasted mailings and wasted efforts. It also means that you have an unclear view of the true value of your data and of your customers.
