Data cleansing

Definition :
Data cleansing is the process of amending or removing incomplete, inaccurate or duplicated data from a database. Data cleansing tools can help an organisation save time and costs spent on fixing data errors manually, and, can lead to a more efficient customer service.

Data cleansing can also be referred to as data scrubbing.

Data cleansing is vital for detecting and removing "dirty data". However, data cleansing also aims to impose consistency on different data sets, particularly in a merge situation where data from separate databases has been combined.

Experian QAS can help you carry out data cleansing in a number of different ways.
