Social media marketing 'becoming mainstream'
Mar 17 2010, 11:49 AM
Social media marketing is likely to become a mainstream channel in 2010, it has been suggested.
Speaking at the recent Technology for Marketing and Advertising event in London, Kevin Dendy, Commercial Director of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA), suggested that it is becoming an increasingly popular method of communicating with potential customers.
"You'll come across social media campaigns all the time. The DMA itself is fully embroiled in getting involved in social media and digital - one of our strategic objectives for this year is digital campaigns," he commented.
However, Mr Dendy noted that successful social media campaigns should be integrated and could be done on the back of direct marketing.
A recent study carried out by Unica revealed that half of companies have already embraced digital media, with a further quarter planning to do so over the coming year.
