New report: data security is top priority
Jun 16 2008, 17:47 PM
A new report, by network infrastructure company Siemon, has revealed that the top issue of concern in the IT world is information security.
When asked to rank security importance, 97 per cent of companies said it was "high" or "very high" priority.
Siemon managing director EMEA Steven Foster is not surprised by the resort.
"In today's world of mission critical applications and reliance on data, it is little wonder that security came out as the number one priority," he said.
"This may partially be a factor of the financial bias in the sample population, but it is a clear message that security is front-of-mind for major corporations."
He also pointed out that companies are looking to standardise their IT to streamline operations.
"Many global organisations are keen to standardise their IT, working with global equipment suppliers to achieve internal standardisation."
Data quality is becoming more and more important to companies and it is clear that IT security is seen as a key way of protecting revenue.
