Marketers 'failing to take advantage of Twitter'
Jul 30 2010, 13:30 PM
Many marketing professionals are failing to take advantage of Twitter, a new report has concluded.
According to digital marketing agency 360I, organisations are not fully realising its potential.
Research carried out by the company revealed that only 12% of marketers use the social networking site to have an active dialogue with consumers, DMNews reports.
"Most conversations on Twitter are very comfortable and conversational. So if brands can come in and offer value to consumers there, that's phenomenal," said Sarah Hofstetter, Senior Vice-President of Emerging Media and Brand Strategy at 360.
She added that businesses are missing a great opportunity by just shouting their messages out, rather than engaging with consumers.
Speaking recently, Mark Batchelor, Managing Director of Markman OTW, said Twitter can be a great tool for small businesses as it gives them the opportunity to talk to people they would not come across usually.
He noted that as well as marketing, companies can use it to exchange ideas.
