IT spending 'set to rise'
Apr 12 2010, 11:27 AM
IT spending is likely to rise considerably over the coming year, it has been claimed.
According to Forrester Research, the US market will grow by around 8.4%, while global spending will increase by 7.7%.
The US technology industry is currently worth approximately $741 billion.
Spending on communications equipment is set to rise, particularly among small and medium-sized businesses, the report suggested.
"On a global basis, the US and Asia Pacific will be standout regions in local currency terms, while the stronger euro and European country debt concerns will keep Western and Central Europe expanding at the slowest rate among the regions," Forrester Research noted.
Meanwhile, the Department of Work and Pensions revealed last month that it increased its IT development budget by almost a third between 2008 and 2009.
The government department spent around £99 million more on information technology during this period than it did in the previous year.
