HP launches new data centre services
Feb 26 2010, 11:37 AM
HP earlier this week announced the launch of a range of new services aimed at helping small to midsize data centres improve efficiency and increase flexibility.
Ron Silliman, Principal Research Analyst at Gartner, commented: "Data centre teams are challenged with managing increasing complexity and sprawl, especially as they implement virtualisation across multiple vendor platforms and operating systems."
He added that these issues are amplified for small outfits with limited staff and economy-impacted budgets.
New services include HP inside remote support, active chat, energy efficiency analysis and infrastructure condition and capacity analysis.
In related news, the Green Grid consortium recently announced plans to launch two free online tools aimed at helping data centre managers to boost their efficiency levels.
These will be available online via the organisation's website from the end of March.
