Green Grid to launch data centre efficiency tools
Feb 5 2010, 11:24 AM
The Green Grid has announced plans to launch two free online tools aimed at helping data centre managers to improve [their] efficiency levels.
Available via the consortium's website from the end of March, the technology will assist companies in monitoring their energy usage and cooling systems.
Green Grid board member and Dell Technology Strategist John Pflueger commented: "It's a tool that lets you specify the topology of your power distribution network at a high level, including how it is architected, what connects to what and what type of equipment you are using."
Businesses can use the tools to identify where energy is being wasted and how much is being used on cooling.
In other environmental news, social networking site Facebook recently announced that it plans to construct a new data centre in Oregon.
The facility is expected to feature green technologies, including an airside economiser and evaporative cooling system.
