Email marketing 'could benefit small businesses this Christmas'
Dec 1 2009, 10:56 AM
Small businesses planning to put their data to good use and launch an email marketing campaign have been advised that the festive season may be a good time to start.
David J Smith, director of operations at the International Media in Retail Group (IMRG), noted that online shopping has proved extremely resilient through the economic downturn and recent postal strike.
"Recent consumer research undertaken by e-Digital Research on behalf of IMRG concluded that 93 per cent of consumers plan to shop online for Christmas. Three-quarters of them will do half or more online," he added.
Commenting on the possibility of further strike action by postal workers, Mr Smith said that most retailers are confident that they can handle any upheaval.
Speaking recently, Richard Wright, Marketing Manager at Epsilon International EMEA, said email marketing has held its own during the financial downturn and continues to be a popular channel for businesses.
