Dedupe software can help ensure data quality

Enterprises that remove duplicate customer records can improve their data quality and ensure that operational costs are kept to a minimum.
That is according to technology expert Fadi Albatal, who wrote on website ZdnetAsia that data deduplication has become crucial to businesses as they endure continued financial pressure.
He explained that deduplication is so pivotal to data quality because it eliminates redundant data held in secondary storage which streamlines operational tasks and minimises bandwidth usage for replication tasks.
"The mandate now and for the foreseeable future is to reduce capital expenditures, lower operating costs and save energy," Mr Albatal said.
"Deduplication improves efficiency and saves money - just what is needed as IT budgets are tightened while mission-critical data continues to grow."
Last month, the European Union published a report recommending that public and private organisations pursue data strategies that provide the greatest access to services.
