Database management crucial in softening the strike of data breach lightening

Data Governance

Data governance is crucial in preventing data breaches, which will strike like lightening, according to Forbes' Chris Poulin.

Industry conversion to the threat of data breaches has moved beyond “if” to the questions of “when,” and “what is the impact?” creating a prevention strategy much like a natural disaster such as a lightning strike.  The only way these attacks can be managed is if the proper safeguards are in place.

Step one of Poulin's data breach recovery plan is foresight, in deploying the right security technology. Data governance has emerged as 'must have' software for businesses, as cyber attacks become ever-more sophisticated.

Organisations must "look to deploy technology that meets their need to: control the flow of information across the network; control access to information itself; protect end systems; encrypt information where necessary; and where possible meet more advanced security requirements, including, but not limited to, data loss prevention," according to industry expert Poulin.

Security intelligence technology has been realised to pay dividends in the long-run, as natural disasters can't always be prevented, but can be controlled.ADNFCR-794-ID-801254986-ADNFCR
