Data quality success 'reliant on collaboration'
Aug 20 2010, 09:40 AM
Data quality projects and other IT schemes are reliant on enterprise collaboration for their success.
This is the view of Jim Harris, a blogger for SmartData Collective, who stated that in the corporate world there has often been a clear division between business and technology, with companies choosing between which two "roads" they want to travel.
He explained that this state of affairs cannot be maintained when enterprise information initiatives are being conducted.
"For success to be possible with data quality, data integration, master data management, data warehousing, business intelligence, data governance, etc, your organisation needs to travel the third road diverged in the corporate world," Mr Harris advised, stating that it is important to take the "road of collaboration".
Earlier this month, his fellow SmartData Collective columnist Steve Sarsfield noted that data management projects are more likely to be a success when they have the backing of an organisation's employees.
