Businesses targeting residents living in London may have to ensure their data management strategies take account of the new postcodes that are being introduced for the Olympic Games.

The Address Management Unit of the Royal Mail has announced that the London 2012 Olympic village is to be classified under a new postcode district, E20.

A total of three new postcode sectors have been created for the site, which stretches across four boroughs in the English capital.

Once the Olympics has finished, the village and its surrounding area will eventually be occupied by more than 16,000 residential properties, along with Europe's largest urban shopping centre.

The Olympic Games is taking place between July 27th and August 12th next year, with the Paralympics occurring from August 29th until September 9th.

Sports fans who are interested in attending can make their applications for tickets from this week as the build-up to the event gets into its stride.
