Data management 'biggest barrier to meeting carbon reduction goals'
Aug 9 2010, 10:32 AM
Data management has been named as the biggest hurdle faced by companies in their attempts to meet the goals set out in the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRCEES).
According to a study conducted by Landmark Environment, 43 per cent of those polled think data management will be a problem when it comes to meeting the obligations, ahead of other factors such as time, cost and information.
Meanwhile, just under half of those questioned said they were concerned about understanding the guidance and legislation surrounding the scheme.
David Mole, managing director of Landmark Environment, told Edie.net: "Clearly many organisations are still looking for an effective way to manage data in this new area."
The CRCEES began in April 2010 and is the UK's mandatory initiative for reducing CO2 emissions and improving energy efficiency.
It aims to make large organisations change their behaviour and infrastructure to help achieve these goals.
