Customer data strategy could minimise risks
May 10 2011, 10:46 AM
A customer data strategy may be something that is required by businesses as threat of attacks aimed specifically at individual companies is on the increase, it has been suggested.
Regional product marketing director at Norton Con Mallon stated it is necessary to think about the risks of hackers attempting to breach security.
"The bad guys are going after more targeted-type activity and that can apply to a suit at a high level company and also it can apply to you as an individual," he said.
Mr Mallon suggested the Hydraq attacks seen last year, which looked to use individuals as a way of gaining access to data, seem to have marked the beginning of a trend.
His comments follow the recent news that hackers plan to make public the information they acquired from Sony databases.
According to CNET, this includes sensitive details such as addresses, credit card numbers and customer names.
