Businesses urged to share data quality software
Jul 27 2010, 11:12 AM
Companies whose procurement budget has been slashed could consider adopting a shared licence framework for data quality software.
This is according to Data Quality Pro, which noted that such an approach has already been seen in the UK public sector, where a group of police forces recently agreed to share access to data quality products.
Dylan Jones, the website's founder, said organisations in both the public and private sectors should look to save money by consolidating their data resources and pursuing a unified strategy.
"There are massive gains to be had by utilising an enterprise data quality team in the form of a central competency centre that can provide a well defined set of services," he commented.
In addition, Mr Jones pointed out that the move towards shared access arrangements is likely to create new opportunities for cloud-based data quality services.
Kevin Slatter of G2 Data Dynamics recently told Marketing Week that companies can benefit from outsourcing their data management requirements to an external consultancy.
