Companies would be wise to ensure they keep track of the latest policies concerning data storage in order to achieve the best results.

That is according to Bloor Research data management research director Philip Howard, who suggested businesses are not doing enough to ensure they meet rules and regulations.

"I have never run across a company that is monitoring adherence to data protection laws as a part of their governance projects," he said.

Mr Howard - who revealed he will be a judge at June's International Data Governance and Information Quality Conference in San Diego - stated the accuracy of data is often given less priority than the process it undertakes.

He added that legislation is beginning to address this trend, something that might prompt organisations to take action.

Bloor is an independent body that aims to provide corporations with advice about managing information more effectively, through analysis and research.  ADNFCR-794-ID-800523101-ADNFCR
