Address validation 'saves customers money'
Jul 26 2010, 11:01 AM
Courier companies have been advised to enhance the experience they offer their customers by using address validation software.
According to IT website Boosh News, organisations that use courier businesses will usually be charged a fee if they make an error when filling out their shipping requests.
However, the use of an address validation system can avoid such incidents, as incomplete or incorrect details will be flagged up for correction before the order is finalised.
The news provider explained: "Sometimes when you're entering an address into software, a simple missed keystroke could result in, for example, a zip code that is one character short.
"Address verification will make sure to catch these types of error."
The website added that address validation software is most effective when deployed in tandem with an online address book, which allows customers to store details for future reference.
In a recent article for UTalkMarketing, Mortascreen director Jo Bell urged businesses to make address management a priority.
