The Research & Competitor Analyst makes up a key part of the 5 strong Business and Market Insight Team. The role of Research and Competitor Analyst entails the collation and dissemination of valuable competitor information to all parts of the Experian QAS business.
The role will also encompass research and analysis projects of varied nature and duration. It will necessarily involve interaction with all parts of the Experian QAS business and also with other Experian companies.

Job Summary
Driving Strategy - The Research and Competitor Analyst is responsible for taking ownership and driving the competitor research strategy for Experian QAS. The individual will have the opportunity to play a key part in the development of the role.
CompetitorResearch - The role entails responsible for gathering and sharing competitor information internally, from the sales and product teams, and gathering it externally, from the press, web and analyst reports, this research and resulting knowledge is the crux of the role in terms of understanding Experian QAS competitors.
Research is completed in monthly or quarterly projects, and requires constant development as Experian QAS grows. The main body of this work is delivered to the company through the Competitor Pinpoint database, which is the Research and Competitor Analyst's responsibility to maintain. The individual will also be responsible for producing and delivering competitor insight training to the sales teams.
Competitor Analysis - In addition to populating the Competitor Pinpoint system, the role involves a great deal of Competitor Analysis. This analysis can be done on an individual project basis, for customer facing teams, on an ad hoc basis, and in formal and quarterly market reviews. This analysis is delivered in presentations to individuals around the business, including high level management.
Competitive Analysis is also regularly requested as part of the business cases and research projects that the B&MI analysts produce.
Market Analysis - The Analyst will also be expected to lead, manage or participate in other research and analysis projects. These may be short term internal projects or longer term, industry wide analyses.
Key Tasks
- Driving competitor strategy at Experian QAS
- Capture and analyse data and information in a structured way using the Competitor Pinpoint system
- Manage and maintain the Competitor Pinpoint database
- Regular monitoring of competitor activity via competitor sites, forums, exhibitions, conferences, desk research etc.
- Production of a regular competitor intelligence report
- Delivery of ad-hoc timely insights and recommendations to key colleagues re. competitor announcements/activities
- Ad hoc support of sales and product management teams where competitive intelligence is needed
- Engage with executives, team members, stakeholders and related personnel in the delivery of competitor intelligence in line with key business goals and objectives
- Output key recommendations (detailing impacts and returns to the business) for each recommendation
- Initiate, propose and manage various research and analyses projects each with the express aim of returning a clearly defined benefit (monetary, efficiency, innovation or otherwise) to the Experian QAS business from this research
- Champion the adoption of these recommendations
Skills Required
- Degree qualification (ideally 2:1/ 2:2 or above), or equivalent qualifications
- 1-2 years experience in a commercial environment
- Desk research experience
- Highly numerate
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently
- Ability to create and manage procedures and processes
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
- Excellent organisational & time management skills: ability to multitask & prioritise workload
- Project management skills
