Job Summary:

The Marketing Events Manager plays a pivotal role in the success of the marketing department. Revenue from marketing-led events account for around 20 percent of the department's overall revenue goal. The primary purpose of this role is to have a strategic vision for the company's event programme, while also being able to tactically research, plan, budget for and manage events that Experian QAS attend or run annually to drive return on marketing investment. In addition, the Marketing Events Manager works closely with the rest of the Marketing team to ensure that these events are marketed to potential delegates as successfully as possible through all possible media, as well as planning event follow up and measuring success.

Key Features of the Role:

The Marketing Events Manager is responsible for the organisation and management of all exhibitions, conferences, seminars, hospitality events and internal staff events that Experian QAS attend or run annually.

The role is required to drive 300% ROI within current financial year. Activity includes:

  • External event research, planning and budget management. External events include: seminars, conferences, webinars, exhibitions and user group
  • Developing themes and scoping relevant content for external events to map against the company's current and growing propositions
  • Involvement in or independent planning and organisation of all large internal events. Internal events include: National Sales Meeting, National Company Meeting, Christmas Party, ad-hoc company meetings.
  • Working with all areas of marketing to promote external events and ensure a fully integrated marketing campaign is based around events where relevant
  • Facilitate the attendance of Sales at ad hoc events when they are deemed of value
  • Monitor lead follow up from events to maximise ROI and analysis of results
  • Working with other departments (IT, Distribution, Professional Services consultants) to ensure successful execution of all events
  • Creatively design agendas, content and speakers (internal and external)
  • Support launch events for Products, as required
  • Co-ordinating events plans with Experian and support activities at events both companies attend

Marketing project work:

  • From time to time, undertake projects in order to represent marketing in conjunction with the wider QAS business.

Skills Required:
The job requires someone that understands how to drive real business value from events (ROI) and influence key stakeholders within the business to make events successful. They also need to have exceptional organisation and time management skills and be capable of dealing with multiple tasks on a day-to-day basis.

Solid events experience is essential.

Full skills required are as follows:

  • Proven experience of driving ROI from events
  • Solid event management capabilities
  • A history of event marketing (pre-, at, and post-) including copy-writing experience for adverts, brochures and invitations, and demonstrable understanding of lead generation campaigns to support the wider Marketing function
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Good project management skills
  • Innovation and creativity
  • A good working knowledge of building compelling events agendas and supporting material
  • Ability to manage suppliers effectively, including event, design and print agencies, event venues, AV companies and caterers.
  • A solid understanding of the technical aspects of an event and a thorough operational understanding of the AV equipment required
  • Experience liaising with clients, external speakers, industry experts, analysts and the press
  • Experience in working with multiple internal stakeholders at all levels, especially sales teams
  • Working knowledge of UK destinations/venues specifically London, Manchester and Edinburgh
  • Experience of hosting and representing the company at events
  • Content creation: Experience in planning and managing the production of print and AV content as well as educational and attention-grabbing Powerpoint presentations for events
  • Strong commercial awareness and business acumen
  • Strong budgeting skills
  • Excellent organisational & time management skills
  • Ability to think logically and efficiently under pressure to troubleshoot within live events
  • Good understanding of company branding
  • Education: minimum of a 2.1 Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Powerpoint & Outlook

Essential requirements

  • Solid events experience
  • Basic understanding of and experience in digital marketing
  • Knowledge of HTML desirable
