Online retail sales increased last month

Online retail sales rose in June, with figures jumping by 13 per cent in the month.
This is according to the IMRG Capgemini eRetail Sales Index, which found that sales in the period contributed £6 billion to the £34.9 billion that was generated in the first six months of the year.
Electrical products in particular were popular during June, with sales increasing 35 per cent when compared to the previous year.
The figures come after InternetRetailing.com reported on a joint report by Experian Marketing Services and the Association of Town Centre Management, which suggested that town centre managers should be more aware of their consumers' geographical challenges.
Capgemini head of retail consulting and technology Chris Webster said: "Retailers are being presented with a unique opportunity to gain legions of international customers during the Olympics, as millions of tourists sample the best of the British high-street."
However, fashion items were less popular in the month, with sales dropping by nine per cent when compared to May.
